Small Batch: Michigan Central Train Station Coasters
The Michigan Central Train Station Coaster Set of 4
Our most popular product, the Corktown Coasters, are now available with a thicker cork and hand drawn artwork of one of Detroit's most memorable landmarks, the Michigan Central Train Station in Detroit.
Your set of coasters is 1 of 100 we'll make this year and your support creates a positive ripple effect. It's handmade in Detroit by our team of Veterans and Detroiters with leather upcycled from the American Auto Industry. We unite this durable car seat leather with cork crafted from leftover wine bottle corks using non-toxic adhesive and a manual press. We then hand-emboss our logo on each coaster. It’s a great gift that smells like a new car -- because it nearly was.

The iconic Michigan Central Train station, that opened in 1913, is hard miss as you drive down Michigan Ave in Detroit in the “Corktown”neighborhood. Soon to be the new world Headquarters of Ford. At the beginning of World War I, the peak of rail travel in the United States, more than 200 trains left the Michigan Central Station each day and lines would stretch from the boarding gates to the main entrance. In the 1940s, more than 4,000 passengers a day used the station and more than 3,000 people worked in its office tower. We are excited for the restoration of this iconic station and celebrate it's comeback with this limited release run of our Train Station Coasters.
The leather used on your Corktown Coasters will have a texture and shade that may vary slightly from the leather pictured since your coaster is crafted with small batch leather reclaimed from the production of new cars.
