Detroit's First Sneaker
Introducing: The Pingree Mayor, Detroit's First Sneaker
Meet Detroit's very first locally crafted sneaker: The Mayor. Inspired by Hazen S. Pingree, Mayor of Detroit (1889-1897), shoemaker and veteran, each shoe is handmade by our team of US veterans and Detroiters. The Mayor is made from luxurious leather reclaimed from the auto industry. Think car seats and steering wheels but on your feet. Designed and meticulously crafted with care to last a lifetime, each is stamped with a unique serial number, so it's yours and yours alone.
95% of the hardware and components to make our sneakers are sourced from US manufacturers.
PLEASE NOTE: Pingree Mayors are made to order and currently we are making 10 pairs per month.
Each pair has character and purpose. Just like the people who make it. Right here, in the Motor City.
Features:
- Designed and sustainably handmade in Detroit
- Sidewall stitched so we can resole your sneakers
- Crafted with Nappa leather reclaimed from the Detroit auto industry
Designed and built entirely in Detroit, the Pingree Mayor is the start of something big. We're not just making some of the finest shoes on the market, we're re-establishing Detroit as the place to design and make shoes. Thanks to you, we're aiming to create meaningful work for Veterans and Detroiters and to put our best foot forward.
