This urban utility sneaker is 1 of 250 handmade in 2025 collaboratively by Pingree Detroit and COMUNITYmade in our factories in Detroit and Los Angeles, with locally sourced, sustainable materials, including surplus(upcycled) leather from the Detroit auto industry.
PLEASE NOTE: Your pair will be made-to-order and is handmade and shipped in the order in which it’s received. We are currently taking orders for 10 pairs of sneakers for our 2nd winter production run that will be made and shipped before March 31st, 2025.
EVERY STEP MATTERS: Each pair has character and purpose. Just like the people who make it. Right here, in the United States. Designed and meticulously crafted with care to last a lifetime. Able to be resoled by our team in Detroit when the outsole wears out. Tough enough for year-round adventure, comfortable enough to wear every day.
The leather used on your Mayors will have a texture and shade that may vary slightly from the leather pictured since your pair is crafted with small batch leather reclaimed from the production of new cars.

HOW THEY’RE MADE: When the Fall production run orders come in, Pingree Detroit is cutting each of the 500 pairs in Detroit, doing a portion of the assembly, and then we’re co-manufacturing them with COMUNITYmade in Los Angeles. Our teams are learning from each other and increasing capacity, as a part of this exciting east-meets-west American manufacturing collaboration.

Shipping
Since the majority of our products are made to order, we try our hardest to ensure orders ship quickly. Most accessories ship within 3-5 business days after the order being placed. If the product is made to order- you'll see the estimated days needed to make your handmade piece in bold on that respective product page. Footwear will ship based on the month included on the receipt emailed to you and the name in the Title when you checked out.
Returns
We want you to be happy, and tell your friends, family, and co-workers about your Piece of Pingree a decade from now how well it's still holding up, so we will stand by our product for life. If the stitching or any hardware fails on one of our products within 365 days of the product arriving to you, we cover the cost of getting it shipped back to us to repair and shipping it back to you at no extra cost. After the warranty, for the Life of Your Product, if anything breaks on it from normal use (please don't use our dog leashes to lift engines out of cars--even though they can hold it) - all you pay is the labor it costs us to repair it and the shipping expense.

I am delighted with The Mayor - admittedly I was nervous when ordering them, not sure how they style would really look or if they would be comfortable. I loved the advance emails and communications on when my shoes were started and who was working on them. The personal touch is fantastic. I ordered the black and white pair and they just arrived today...worth the wait! Thrilled with the look and custom feel of the shoes. They are comfortable with minimalistic style knowing that to pull off the clean lines and great design takes intense, detail oriented work. These are surprisingly comfortable and I already received compliments on my first time wearing them. I appreciate the sturdy soles yet the shoes are still really comfortable. I love the whole ethos of this company and I loved getting to know the makers/owners and appreciate their generosity of spirit and community.
My wife and I had “the mayor” shoes custom made to match my car and they turned out better than expected. They not only look good are very comfortable. I would highly recommend them.
